TRY THIS: Raise a Glass
Hopes are high for a post-COVID spring (take two) and nothing pairs better with high hopes than a pint of Lamplighter, is a saying we just made up. Check out their pre-COVID dream of a second location at Cambridge Crossing finally realized. The new space is a high-ceilinged, sun-bathed taproom of community goodness, hosting an event space, retail counter, and barrel aging facility and is ready for you and your buds from the 25th.
Or raise a glass at your new-old favorite Cambridge haunt, the People’s Republik, rechristened the New Republik by the former bar manager and bar back of the old spot. Previously on Mass Ave between Harvard and Central Squares, the New Republik now occupies the space of the short-lived Irish pub The Rising just outside Inman Square on Cambridge Street. Familiar Red kitsch greets patrons, along with an expanded food menu and the return of one of the precious few dart boards in the area. The plan was announced last fall with a November open date, but *gestures to world* it opened early February.
If IPAs and mezcal negronis aren’t your thing, check out Boston’s very first sake bar, the Koji Club, another pre-pandemic dream of owner Alyssa Mikiko DiPasquale. The cozy 16-seater bar is one of the newest tenants of Brighton’s Speedway, a large communal vendor space (a la Bow Market) just off Soldiers Field Road. A small menu will pair perfectly with DiPasquale’s selections (we’re super excited for the Buenas/Super Bien curry empanada collab). Classes and tastings to come; stay up to date here!
Your Starlight Square
The erstwhile parking lot, now multi-use performance venue/open air market Starlight Square is seeking applications for pop-up vendors and programming for this summer’s season. Applications are open until March 27th to anyone with an idea and a twinkle in their eye. Past programs have included hip hop cyphers, comic book festivals, flamenco, and outdoor science classes while past shops have boasted wares like zero-waste clothing, fresh local flowers, hot sauce, and laser cut jewelry. See your dreams realized at Boston’s Best Reimagined Outdoor Space today!
